The College of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Brussels and the NGO Flower Carpet of Brussels are pleased to invite you to the press day on the occasion of the
OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE 20th EDITION OF THE FLOWER CARPET
Let’s meet on Friday, August 12 2016, at the Brussels’ Grand-Place.
This year, the Flower Carpet will be adorned in a Japanese design to celebrate 150 years of Belgo-Japanese friendship. On the occasion, the Brussels’ Town Hall will also be decorated with flowers in the Ikebana style.

FLOWER CARPET 2016: AGENDA
August 10 & 11, 2016: First preparations on the Brussels’ Grand Place
August 12, 2016: Press day
- 3AM-5AM: Arrival of the flowers
- 5AM: A hundred volunteers will install the first flowers
- 8AM: Opening of the City Hall's balcony offering you a panoramic view on the carpet in the making. Possibility to interview volunteers and organisers
- 1PM: End of carpet construction and opening to the general public
- 8:30PM: Official opening at the Town Hall and at Maison du Roi (on invitation only)
- 10PM: Opening show
August 13, 14 and 15, 2016: Open to the public
- From 10AM to 10PM: Opening of the City Hall to the public for a panoramic view of the carpet (last entrance at 9:30PM)
- Entrance fee: 5 € (free for children under 10)
- Free access to the Grand-Place
